Windy & Warm
Today is a fabulous day! I hope that spring is finally here. I'm tired of this cold and gloomy weather. I ate lunch outside today and the wind blew my drink over and spilt some of it. But just being outside was a great thing. I think I may go to the driving range this afternoon and hit some golf balls. I haven't played in weeks. Towards the end of the year last year, I had developed a nasty hook when I played. I'm hoping that my swing problem will have cured itself since I haven't played in such a long time.
One of my favorite guitarists is the late Chet Atkins. He was a master. He played a song called "Windy & Warm" and when I heard today's weather forecast, they said it just like this; "It's going to be windy and warm today..." It made me think of the song. My hometown puts on a show every year called "The Grandest Ole Opry" where local people go on stage and imitate Grand Ole Opry stars. The show is huge, running for three nights, with 1,000 or so people there per night. I portrayed Chet for two years and I played Windy & Warm my first year. It was quite nerve-racking, but it was a lot of fun. Here is a version of "Windy & Warm" played by Chet. And here's a pic of me playing it!
Before I go, I want to say hey to Derick. He's in Napoli, Italy on a backpacking vacation. I know he is still there because someone from Napoli, Italy viewed both mine and Karyn's blogs at 11:37 am today. Coincidence? I don't think so. Be careful dude.

Man...I was hoping for a recording of YOU playing it....jeez!
I never got a recording of it. and I don't think i can remember how to play it well enough to do it now.
So exciting to realize there is someone out there who likes more than Tim McGraw and Justin Timberlake! If you had a copy of Jack Johnson's new album you wanted to pass along it would be wonderful. I have On & On and Brushfire Fairytales and listen to them often. Are you familiar with Leftover Salmon? They are a groovy, bluegrass infused, funky, folk band. Check them out. I saw them last New Year's at the Ryman with Del McCoury. A good night, indeed.
