Unheralded Basketball Star Declares for Tonight's NBA Draft

AP - Newsbrief
June 28th, 2005

The unheralded basketball star Jason L from Bowling Green, Kentucky, in a surprise move on the National Basketball Association's draft day, declared himself eligible for the NBA draft.

In a press conference held from the living room of his Jeffersonville, Indiana apartment, Jason said, "This is a great day for my family. I have decided to forego my final 3 months as a government employee and pursue a career in the NBA."

Scouts are extremely impressed at Jason's basketball abilities. In a recent workout session with the Indianapolis Pacers, he sank 35 straight paperwads in a trash-can from nearly 20 feet away.

Pacers scout Iwatchbasketball Foraliving said, "We may have found a replacement for Reggie, with this Jason kid. He can light it up!"

Jason has not opted to sign with an agent. In the rare instance that he is not drafted tonight, he will remain eligible for his final three months with his government job, and will likely return to that job on Wednesday.

My heart skipped a beat and I started seeing dollar signs as the Detroit Pistons selected with the 26th pick, Jason..... Maxiell.

Oh well. There's always next year. It's back to the grindstone for now.

Bad night for UK...nothing for Hayes, Azubuke, or Morris. Please ignore the snide grin on my face. I mean, even Bracey Wright got drafted. PLEASE!

You making fun of my Cats? How dare you :)
The only one of those three that I'm upset over is Hayes. He's such a great guy. He'll end up on a roster somewhere as a free agent.

Well you know....as a Louisville and Indiana fan, I have to take some pleasure in that fact that none of those guys for UK got drafted.

However, I do agree about Hayes. He's a tough player and is just a great overall guy. Plus, I have respect for anyone who sticks around the whole 4 years of college these days. I hope he ends up on someone's roster. He's got great size and an overall toughness that would be a nice fit somewhere. I hope the same for Larry O'Bannon and Ellis Myles of Louisville. Great guys who deserve a chance somewhere.

Bracey Wright getting drafted was a fluke. He's one lucky dude....darn traitor.
