Dancin' Carl
Anybody that has been to a Louisville Bats baseball game in the last few years, knows exactly who Dancin' Carl is. He's retired now, and isn't working at Slugger Field anymore. But he definitely can put a smile on your face. When the visiting team would make a pitching change, Dancin' Carl did his dance. He would run down the aisle and jump up on the third base dugout, and start dancing to the "Tootsie Roll". You know the song... "To the left, to the left, to the right, to the right. Now dip baby dip, come on, now dip baby dip..." I've googled extensively for a picture of him in his dance. But I couldn't find one. I did, however, find a VIDEO of him dancing. Download it here.
Derick came to town on Friday evening for the Muckrakers concert. He spent the night with me and we golfed on Saturday morning. We were a few minutes late for our tee time, and they told us to go to #2 tee and meet up with the other two that we would be playing with. So we paid and headed for #2. I saw this gray-haired guy on the tee and thought he looked extremely familiar.
We made our formal introductions on #3 tee. He said his name was Carl, and the other guy was Scott. I still couldn't figure out who he reminded me of. I even asked Derick if he looked familiar to him. We played that hole and drove up to the 4th tee to find that we would be waiting for the group in front of us to get out of the way. So Carl asked Derick and I what we did for a living. We told him. Derick then asked Carl what he did for a living. He said that he was mostly retired, but that he was doing some part time work here and there. Then he said that he had been working at Slugger Field as an usher and working with the promotional items that they toss up into the stands. At that moment, I realized who it was. I pointed at him and said "You're Dancin' Carl!!" He laughed and said yes. Derick then asked what Dancin' Carl did, and he demonstrated a dance step or two. It was great. I laughed so hard.
Carl is a pretty good golfer. His personality definitely matches what you would think, after seeing him do his little dance. He's a funny guy.
