Huge BUG
Since Mother Nature has decided not to give us any rain over the last several days, I'm having to water our flowers and tomato plant on our porch on a daily basis. We're proud of our little porch and the plants that we've decorated it with. I don't eat tomatoes, but it's been fun watching it grow. The wife says the tomatoes have been excellent though. And for the flowers, I have no idea what kind these are, just that they're white and pink, and are always in constant bloom.

One day last week I was watering like normal. I went over to the tomato plant and this praying mantis was staring me down. I swear this is the biggest praying mantis I've ever seen in my life. I thought it was going to pick one of the tomatoes and pack it off to his nest or something. It was literally about 6 inches long.

Man those things freak me out. Such an interesting insect, but wow! they are CREEPY!
Google to the rescue. They are not poisonous. They are good for insect control though. They eat mosquitoes, flies, and other pesky insects. The article I found said they won't bite humans either, but if you hold one, the spines on their legs will cause a pinching sensation.
Spines on their legs?! ::shivers::
It's been a long time since I've seen one. My parents have a "Japanese" garden at their house, and they used to hang out there all the time. If I came across one now, I would probably stare at it intrigued for a long time. Then, it would suddently move, and I would run screaming like a little girl.
Walking sticks are also one of those bugs that are super-creepy.
