Last Day

Today is my last day at my job. All day today I've been thinking to myself, "This is the last time I'll park here in this spot", "This is the last time I'll show my ID badge to the guard", "This is the last time I'll login to my computer", "This is my last no. 2 in this bathroom," etc. It is a sad day for me, but I just have to try and think about all of the happy things that are to come.

My new life will officially start tomorrow. We close on our house tomorrow. I just walked over to the credit union and transferred about 80% of our savings into my checking account. And tomorrow I will write the biggest check that I've ever written in my life, and in exchange we will receive the keys to our new home.

Then in two weeks, on October 17th, I will start my new job in Bowling Green, two hours away from here. And then in six weeks I will be welcoming our new son into the world. I can't believe that things are happening so fast.

But today, I have to say goodbye to many of my friends. These are people that I have spent 9 hours a day with over the last 2 and a half years. I will miss them severely.

Funny how all those things seem to come all at once - it happened for us in pretty much the same way.

Enjoy the excitement and don't forget to breathe.
