Unemployment

We closed on our house last Friday, so we are now homeowners! After signing our names a thousand and one times, the owner gave us the keys. It was a great feeling walking into the house for the first time, knowing that (after 360 payments) it was ours. We went straight to the dining room and started peeling wallpaper from the wall. I think we're going to be pretty lucky with that. The top decorative layer peels right off, and the glue layer will come off with water and scraping. And the walls were primed underneath.

So a week ago today was my last day of working. I've been off for a week. It's been niiiice. It's almost been like a vacation. I've stayed up late and slept late every day. I got the new Tiger Woods 2006 golf game and I've been playing the heck out of it. If you haven't played it, it has a "Game Face" feature, where you can create a golfer and customize the face to make it look like yourself. Mine looks EXACTLY like me. My virtual golfer started out with roughly the same skill level as the real me, but has quickly progressed and he could kick my butt on a real course, no problem.


But for most of the week, I've been pretty bored. There just isn't much to do in this little apartment. I'm longing to be working on the new house, but that would mean I would have to leave my wife up here by herself. She is still working by the way. She's in her 35th week of pregnancy now. She's beginning to wish the little guy would go ahead and come. But he'll be here soon enough.
