Headphones in the grocery

I got a small mp3 player for Christmas, and I take it everywhere I go. It's filled to the capacity with all the mp3's I can squeeze on there. And I listen to it alot... at work, in the gym, in the car, travelling, etc. Derick calls it the "soundtrack to my life" and it is quite fitting. Soon I'll have an iPod and I'll be able to put my entire music collection on it.

Lately, I've considered taking the player inside the grocery store while I shop for food. I've never seen anybody do this before though, and I've chickened out every time. There are days when I get off from work when I have to stop by the grocery and get 10 or 15 things. I go in the grocery with my cart, I don't speak to a single person, I use the self check-out lane, and then I'm on my way home. So why am I so afraid to wear my headphones into the grocery?

Have you ever seen anybody wear headphones in the grocery? Or any store for that matter? If you were to see somebody, would you think they were weird? Your answers may influence my next trip to the grocery.

And by the way, I learned how to play Belle last night, and it is super fun.

I think I would secretly laugh at someone in the grocery wearing headphones. Not unlike the way I inwardly make fun of those people who use the earpiece thing for their cell phones while in the store.

Congrats on the learning of Belle!!!

Actually, I just got an iPod shuffle about three weeks ago and I do take it to the store. I don't get to listen to it much at home, so I take advantage of it whenever I can.

So I say listen away.

Alright. I think I'm gonna wear the headphones during my next after work grocery visit.

I work at a grocery store and its not that uncommon for me to see someone walking around with headphones on. Most of the time its the cellphone thing. the music listeners are often more discrete about it, using the little earbuds coming out of their shirt...

I wouldn't even think of shopping without my Ipod!! Seriously,it makes shopping less of a chore. I've never had anybody look at me strange for wearing them...

Can't be any worse than the cell phone.
