Headphones in the Grocery, Part 2
Read Headphones in the Grocery, Part 1 first, if you haven't already.
I finally did it. I finally had the perfect opportunity to take my music into the grocery and listen while I shopped. A few weeks ago, I saw somebody else listening to their iPod (the white corded headphones gave it away) and I finally got the confidence to do it myself.
I haven't really had that many opportunities to do it. The wife and I have been going together recently, and I haven't had to make many after work solo trips. But I had my chance on Tuesday this week. We were grilling hamburgers and we didn't have any charcoal or buns. So I stopped at the store, put on some Jack Johnson, slipped my iPod in my pocket, and listened while I shopped. It was great. From now on, I will continue to do it, and I won't feel a bit weird about it at all.

I always feel rather self concious when when listening to music outside (used to listen to the radio pre-iPod) but it does put an amusing spin on the surroundings and changes your whole perspective!
Its nice to sit in a crowded shopping area and see all the people dancing along to your tunes!
I like the iPod listing blog too - how did you do that then eh?
It really was fun. I don't know why I haven't done it sooner.
Thanks for the kind words on my iPod page. I used a script called tunes2html that created a generic html page. I manipulated it to work within my blog.
I still refuse to take it to the store or mall, it just seems so unsocial. Although, I am VERY tempted to carry it around work. I saw a girl the other day doing it, hers was green.
I just hate going places by myself. I typically don't talk to strangers unless I have to. So music is the perfect companion.
I wore mine to the fax machine once, but that's as far from my desk as I've worn them.
Yeah, I wore mine to the refrigerator one time. And I've worn it in the parking lot, that's about it. I guess I don't care about being unsocial here!
Just got back from shopping and i was wearing my iPod all the time i was there. It did make me feel totally alienated from the outside world - which was cool.
And seeing the local schoolkids out on a trip all holding hand in a line and dancing along to "Fools Gold" by the Stone Roses made me nearly laugh out loud!
